What will this position involve?

The role will be responsible for the recruitment and development of graduates and young people interested in developing an ethical and responsible career. This will involve advertising, shortlisting applicants CVs, telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews and assistance with induction as well as ongoing support through our Skills Development Programme. It will also hold responsibility for establishing and developing new and existing relationships with clients.

This role will work alongside and oversee, on a day-to-day basis, the Recruitment and Development team. It will also involve working to improve our processes and providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders.

This opportunity is initially a fixed term contract for 12 months; however it is intended that this will be extended, or the role may develop into other opportunities within Change Agents UK, subject to satisfactory performance and funding.

Salary (per annum pro rata): £20,000 pa pro rata

Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruit and interview graduates for ethical and responsible projects and market the service to graduates and clients using websites, presentations, adverts and mailings.

  2. Support Change Agents and our clients throughout the duration of their roles, through Introductory and Review meetings, and the Skills Development Programme and giving information on courses, conferences, events etc.

  3. Motivate and oversee the Recruitment and Development team.

  4. Through effective networking, creative thinking and partnership development, market our services to potential clients (local authorities, universities, businesses, voluntary and community organisations).

  5. Liaise with partner organisations such as the National Union of Students (NUS), and Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (EAUC) to promote Change Agents UK’s work and generate referrals.

  6. Develop effective and innovative social media and email campaigns via dot mailer platforms. Develop networks to promote sustainable development, information sharing, networking and the profile of Change Agents UK and its Change Agents.

  7. Develop specialist knowledge of a sustainability topic and/or key employment sectors in order to give advice and referrals to other staff and Change Agents, gather information and write articles.

  8. Develop a system for marketing our services to current, past and potential clients.

  9. Attend conferences and events on a regular basis to promote the organisation, develop leads, and build new business.

  10. Produce regular reports and monthly dashboard tracking the performance of Recruitment and Development against targets and budgets.

  11. Maintain effective working relationships with the team.

  12. Assist with any other reasonable tasks that may arise.


  1. Excellent communication skills: face to face, over the phone, email and other internet-based communications i.e. social media.

  2. Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to take responsibility and work under own initiative, coping with a demanding workload and prioritising effectively. Demonstrable ability to work to set deadlines and agreed milestones.

  3. Interest in sustainability and behaviour change.

  4. Basic understanding and appreciation of the process and objectives of the Recruitment & Development team’s activities.

  5. Understanding of, and commitment to, equality and objectivity in the recruitment process.

  6. A willingness to be inducted into, understand and carry out the full Change Agents UK processes for recruitment and assessment.

  7. Accurate data management and ability to maintain paper and electronic files.

  8. Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office programmes.

  9. Ability to maintain positive, professional relationships with stakeholders, clients, candidates and colleagues.


  1. Experience of leading a team or managing people.

  2. Direct experience of behaviour change for sustainability.

  3. Previous experience of working in Human Resources (HR) or demonstrable knowledge of employment law and regulations.

  4. Demonstrable experience in partnership development and of developing new business opportunities.

Additional Position Details

Closing Date: Sunday, 27th August 2017

Hours/Week: 37.5 (possibility of working part-time / job-share)

Annual leave: 25 days

Work outside normal hours: A reasonable amount of travel will be involved in undertaking interviews around the country. There may be some work outside of normal office hours. Change Agents UK operates a flexi-time policy and work related travel expenses are paid.
